Malayalam music director Kaithapram Vishwanathan Namboothiri passes away at the age of 58. Being the brother of renowned lyricist cum musician
Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, Vishwanathan worked as the music director for over 20 films. His most prominent work was for the director Jayaraj’s movie ‘Kannaki’ and the Dileep starrer film ‘Thilakkam’. Kaithapram Vishwanathan Namboothiri was undergoing treatment for cancer at a hospital in Kozhikode, Kerala.

Kaithapram Vishwanathan was born in Kaithapram Village, Kannur in 1963. Having been placed under the tutelage of the veteran Carnatic singer Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar, Kaithapram Vishwanathan Namboothiri has also bagged the prestigious 2001 Kerala State Film Award for the best background score for the film ‘Kannaki’. Kaithapram made his film debut in Jayaraj’s movie ‘Deshadanam’ and he worked as an assistant to his own brother Kaithapram Damodaran in the award-winning film. The notable works of Kaithapram Vishwanathan Namboothiri include ‘Kayyethum Dhoore Oru Kuttikalam’ in the film ‘Ekandham’, ‘Neeyoru Puzhayayi’ and ‘Enikkoru Pennund’ in the film ‘Thilakkam’, Kaithapram Vishwanathan is survived by his wife Gauri Antharjanam and children Adithi, Narmada, and Keshavan.
