When ‘Devara’ actor Shine Tom Chacko said movies made using VFX and sets won’t age well
Mollywood actor Shine Tom Chacko is known for his candid revelations, especially during the interviews. The actor has played a pivotal role as Kora in the newly released Jr NTR starrer ‘Devara: Part 1’ and his earlier revelation on movies that depend only on VFX and green screen sets is now getting much attention among netizens.
In an earlier interview with Indian Express, Shine Tom Chacko said that most of ‘Devara’s production is done on a studio floor, which is opposite to shooting in real locations, which is mostly done in Malayalam movies in which he has worked.
Further talking about shooting inside the floor, he said, "All those islands, mountains, and ships are all inside the studio. Only now do I understand the difficulty of shooting films like Jurassic Park, Spiderman, and others. We have to imagine that we’re standing in a forest or some other place, while in reality, we’re standing inside a studio."
He said that such practice is boring for an actor which he considers to be not a challenging one. Shine said that when he was working on the film ‘Adithattu’, they shot in the real sea because the budget was not enough to execute those scenes with the use of VFX, which also helped them wrap up the film with less budget. Shine also added that such practical shot sequences will remain fresh in the minds of the audiences even with time.
Shine Tom Chacko said that a movie completely depending on computer graphics won’t age well. “It’s always better to shoot in real locations. But for Jr NTR, Vijay, and other superstars in other film industries, shooting in such locations is not possible since it's difficult to control the crowd.”
Shine Tom Chacko added that these superstars aren’t even allowed to pick up a small packet or box from the studio floor, as their assistants do it for them, highlighting the contrast between the action sequences they perform on screen and the reality on set, where much of the action in their films are created through VFX.
