Like many other teenagers, she had doubts about her voice, the way she looks, and her acne. However, director Alphonse Puthren was very confident and thought 'this girl is something', and the audience resonated with it.
Sai Pallavi's portrayal of Malar, a college lecturer, was refreshingly authentic. Unlike the conventional portrayal of heroines in Indian cinema, Sai Pallavi appeared on screen without makeup, flaunting her acne, and natural curly hair, and a radiant smile. In fact, ‘Premam’ made people look at women with acne in a new light. She had also spoken about how she felt confident as a person because of the film and the director’s confidence in her.
Interestingly, according to some reports, Sai Pallavi was offered a whopping sum to endorse a face cream, which she refused.
