Better Half Chi Love Story

Ajay (Subodh Bhave) is a successful copy writer whose wife suspects him of having an affair with his boss Mona (Prarthana Behere). His wife Soniya (Rinku Rajguru) is unusually controlling and insecure. Ajay’s close relation to Mona only adds fuel to the fire. Amidst household conflict, Soniya has an accident and loses her life. This sets off a self-fulfilling prophecy that ends with Mona and Ajay together and supernatural forces take over.

This film is a visually stunning affair that fails to prioritise the elements that make it special. With precious minutes splurged in mute setup, the key plot points are rushed past. The dialogues are clunky and the wife bashing jokes get a little repetitive. The highlight of the film still remains Bhave’s portrayal of his character. However, the film throughly under utilises its actors, with Prarthana Behere and Rinku Rajguru being reduced to gfawwing steriotypes who dote on Bhave.

The first half of the film is a snoozefest and only picks up in the second half.

Of special note in the film is the set design and the music that really set the mood. This is a story that had the potential to be a unique film but falls short on the delivery by getting its priorities jumbled. Better Half Chi Love Story is a fun plot that suffers from shoddy execution.
