Dry Day

Story: The film revolves around three friends and their exploits on a dry day after one of them breaks up with his girlfriend.

Review: Under the pretense of being a film with a social message, Dry Day attempts to be a moral lesson against alcohol consumption.

The film essentially is a love story with more flaws than good things to speak about. But let's get to that later. First, the story. So the film starts at a college where a professor (Yogesh Sohoni) is scolding students for breaking beer bottles in the college premises. When the students have had enough of his scolding, they start arguing with him. One things lead to another and suddenly we go into flashback mode which also doubles up as an assault on the viewer's power of logical thinking. Turns out, the professor has a story from his college days about two of his friends (Kendre and Bagal) in love and feels that it would be the most apt opportunity to recall the story in order to tell students about the ill effects of consuming alcohol. Confusing enough? Well, that's how the entire film works.

Dry Day is like a badly made PSA wrapped in the gift paper of a love story. It hardly keeps you engaged. The non existence of a proper story and unnecessary sub-plots pile up to give you a film that neither entertains not delivers any message.

Add to it the below average performances of the leads, Kendre and Bagal, and you can't help but wish for it all to end. Actors like Kailash Waghmare and Arun Nalawade are wasted too. Sohoni is still alright and soncere. The only high points of the film come from certain scenes with Waghmare.

However, there really nothing to watch in this film that is stretched to eternity. If you have time, go hangout with friends at a cafe. Because, forget getting high, Dry Day won't even give you a light kick of entertainment.
