Namrata (Prarthana Behere) is a reserved doctor who escapes marriage pressure and takes a solo trip to Thailand. She is joined by her childhood friend Anju (Pooja Sawant), who pulls her into an alcohol soaked exploration of the island paradise. They repeatedly run into Sid (Abhijeet Khandkekar) who is an excitable man, who plays along in their shenanigans. The three of them get close and things get heated. The singular saving grace for Sakhe Ga Saajani is the acting from Behere and Sawant. Their affection seems legitimate and the duo seems to be genuinely having fun on the trip.
The film acts as an extended advertisement for Thai tourism. With a paper thin plot that is essentially the girls grabbing beers against scenic backdrops, the story takes forever to set the premise. The music is middling and the cinematography is quite shoddy, especially in the scenes abroad. The poor color grade takes a lot away from the cinematic experience.
One wishes the filmmakers spent half the budget of the music videos on the dialogues and the plot. Pivotal facts are added to the story as per convenience, leaving the audience with narrative whiplash. Far too much hinges on the twists at the end that come in too late. In another world Sakhe Ga Saajani is a hard hitting story of love and sacrifice akin to the film Cocktail. In this world however, it is not.
