Tejas, who helmed Madhuri Dixit’s first Marathi film Bucket List last year is all set to play a cop in Raj Gupta’s untitled Marathi film that has Deepak Dobriyal and Nandita Patkar in the lead roles. In fact, he recently finished dubbing for the same.
An evidently excited Tejas told us, “I did a brief role in Bucket List because I was curious to know how it feels to be in front of the camera.
But now, I will be seen playing a pivotal character in the film that is set in the ‘90s. Even though I’m involved in various departments in the project, when Raj approached me for the role, I auditioned for it. I even cut my hair short to suit the part. And only when the director was convinced that I fit the bill, he took me on board as an actor.”
Not many know that Tejas’ parents — Vijay and Prabha Deoskar — have been actively involved in theatre for more than four decades now. “I have acted in a few plays produced by my parents in Nagpur. But I never gave acting a serious thought until this film happened. While both of them are well-known stage artistes, I always had an inclination towards direction and writing. I must say an actor’s job is extremely challenging. In order to pull off a 10 minute scene, actors have to spend the entire day on the sets to rehearse and mug up their dialogues. It was such a wonderful experience. Having said this, direction will never take a backseat; I will act in films only if the roles offered to me are exciting and meaty,” he shared.
