Actor Vikram Gokhale talks about his Hinglish directional debut and how he is not emotionally prepared to direct a Marathi film He marked his debut as a filmmaker in M-Town with
Aaghat in 2010. This year, actor-director Vikram Gokhale is working on a Hinglish film
Colour called Grey (working title). The film is based on the life of students in our country who choose to leave and settle abroad, and the dilemmas they face through the journey, which compel them to return.
Vikram is currently giving the script its 'final touches.' The recent spate of attacks on Indian students abroad has also inspired him to take up the topic.
To be shot in Mumbai, Pune and Australia, the film cast involves
Tom Alter, Australian actress-model Cassie Ponton,
Aniket Vishwasrao, Pune girl
Anuya Bhagwat and Vikram to name a few. For someone who has closely seen both Bollywood and M-Town, Vikram feels the latter definitely needs a lot of support.
Prod him further and he says: 'I am not mentally prepared to produce a Marathi film. The simple reason being 'no recovery'. There are so called supporters who give hope to artistes and filmmakers that they will revive the industry, but I see nothing happening at the end of the day.'
Like any film, a lot of money goes into the process of making it. 'Why should I risk my producer's money if there is no profit? I feel it's safer to invest in a small budget Hindi movie, as it gets a theatrical release throughout the country,' he informs.
Passport woes for Anuya An FTII alumni, Anuya was recently seen in Shankar's Tamil film
Nanban, which was the remake of Raju Hirani's
3 Idiots. Though she is doing well down south, the actor is excited about the role in Vikram's movie. 'Vikram
kaka is my mentor and I am definitely looking forward to it,' she says. But there's one thing that's bothering Anuya. The actor is awaiting the delivery of her passport. Anuya, who stays in Mumbai (Dadar), has a permanent address here too. She has been running from pillar to post for the last eight months trying to resolve her passport issues over her permamnent address. So would this cost her the role in Vikram's film? Vikram clears the air and says, 'Anuya is a good actor. The passport issue has created a problem for the young girl. But the issue won't disturb the film schedule abroad.'
