'Morya' director Jitendra Barde cries foul with the censor board, fighting the battle from the past 10 months—Exclusive!

Actor-director Jitendra Barde's upcoming Marathi film 'Morya', which has attracted the attention of discerning critics at various international film festivals, including Cannes, alleges that it has been 10 months since their film has been fighting to get a certificate. Still, there is no fruitful response from the censor board.
In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Jitendra Barde shared, "We had submitted our film twice for censorship.The first time I submitted, they asked for a lot of cuts; we did not accept the cuts and went to the revising committee. The revision happened on December 30, 2022. And then we received a letter where the censor asked us to make some corrections, and we were given 14 days to make the corrections or else it would not be valid after that."
Jitendra also claimed that "making changes to graphics was very expensive for us to arrange the funds. So, we met RO Mahesh Patil (Regional Officer) and requested him to help us as we didn't have the funds to correct the suggested changes by the RC (revising committee), and he agreed to cooperate with us. In September, we got the funds, made the changes, and submitted the film again. Meanwhile, Patil was transferred, and the new RO did not give us any applause. We would sit there the whole day, but they didn't look at us or even bother to hear us out. Now we have received an email where it is mentioned that we did not meet the 14-day deadline."
