Priyanka Chopra just can’t seem to get enough of the Marathi industry. After backing Marathi movies like the National Award winning Ventilator and the comic caper Kaay Re Rascala, the actress is now producing her third Marathi venture.
The film, Paani, marks the directorial debut of actor
Adinath Kothare and is said to be a biopic of Hanumant Kendre, who is known for his water conservation efforts in the village of Nagarwadi in Nanded district.
Paani will deal with the issue of water crisis and will share the story of how one man’s quest to find a suitable bride ended in him solving the water issue of his village.
Speaking about Priyanka’s association with the project, Adinath said, “They are very receptive producers and for someone like her to believe in a first-time director like me is a big thing.” The team was working on the script of this film for almost three years. “Nitin Dixit (director of Avatarachi Goshta) has written the script and we have already started shooting for the film,” added Adinath.
The film is currently being shot in the Marathwada region. The details about the cast have been kept under the wraps, but actor Subodh Bhave recently shared a picture from the location on his social media handle, confirming his association with the film. However, sources suggest that though he is an integral part of the film, Subodh won’t be seen in the lead role.
