National award winning Marathi director Sujay Dahake has begun the scripting for his next project titled 'Shyam Chi Aai' which will be shot in black and white. The story is an adaptation of the famous autobiography Shyamchi Aai written by legendary late writer-social activist Sane Guruji. The autobiography reflected the strong depiction of a mother's love for her child.

Sujay who plans to give his film a fresh look said, 'I want to portray the original essence of the book and do not want to remake Atre's film. It will be more of a restoration of the original text with a new approach. In my script, I intend to develop the role of social pressures that triggered Shyam's rebellious behaviour towards his mother, which is underplayed in the original text.' The filmmaker is already scouting around for fresh faces.
Elaborating further on the black and white treatment for his film, he added, 'I wanted to make a film in black and white for a while as I feel that people are looking for nostalgia in films today. That's one of the reasons films like BP (Balak Palak) or Shala were appreciated. The subject of Shyamchi Aai allows me to do that. I am also planning a collaboration with FTII as they have some of the best facilities for developing black and white films.'
