Poshter Boyz: 9 reasons to watch the film

Shreyas Talpade

WIth 'Poshter Boyz' Shreyas Talpade is making a comeback to Marathi films albeit as a producer. Shreyas is known to be a versatile actor. He has proved his mettle in films like 'Iqbal', 'Dor' and 'Om Shanti Om'. He started out with Marathi soaps and went on to act in a couple of Marathi films as well but Shreyas' big break came with Nagesh Kukunoor 'Iqbal' where he played a deaf and mute aspiring cricketer. For 'Poshter Boyz', Shreyas has managed to rope in three well-known Bollywood personalities for cameos in the film.

Farah Khan

Ace choreographer, director and actor Farah Khan directed Shreyas Talpade in 'Om Shanti Om' with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and the two developed a good friendship. So when Shreyas asked her to do a cameo in the film, Farah readily agreed. She also gave Shreyas a taste of his medicine as she improvised a lot during the scene which Shreyas directed. Shreyas and SRK used to do the same during the filming of 'OSO'. Her cameo was kept under wraps even from the cast and crew of the film. We hear that when Farah visited the sets to complete her shoot, the members of the unit were left surprised.

Lesle Lewis

Hariharan's other half from the Colonial Cousins, Lesle Lewis has composed the music for the film. Popularly known as Lezz in the industry, Lesle Lewis is one of the very first Indian composers to have introduced the Indian audiences to Rock and Pop music. Speaking about the music, Shreyas said, "We needed a person of Lesle sir’s talent and caliber. He as a composer has the understanding of traditional Maharashtrian tunes and can connect with the taste, of the contemporary Marathi youth at the same time. My personal favorite is Shankar’s song but I love all the songs.”

Dilip Prabhavalkar

Dilip is one actor who has experimented with various roles throughout his career. But in the last couple of years he went up a notch by experimenting in almost each of his films. In 'Poshter Boyz' too, he plays a man whose photo goes up on a poster promoting vasectomy. Another interesting thing to watch out for will be his camaraderie with co-stars Aniket Vishwasrao and Hrishikesh Joshi. We do hope Prabhavalkar keeps experimenting and giving the audience something brilliant to watch.

Hrishikesh Joshi

Hrishikesh Joshi has entertained audiences in his last three movies and his performance was appreciated in each one of them. With his impeccable comic timing, the actor is sure to strike a chord with the viewers this time too. Plus, his perfect grasp of the rural accent will prove an added advantage considering the film is based in a rural setting too. While he has played side role in his earlier releases, this would be the first time he will be seen as a parallel lead.

Aniket Vishwasrao

Aniket became a popular name in Marathi households with the serial 'Kalat Nakalat' and went on to become a part of many Marathi films. He has played the lover boy, action star, serious lead and comedian with conviction prior to this, and we hope to see a new side of him in this one. Though Shreyas Talpade was thought to be playing Aniket's role, he made it clear that he wouldn't. Shreyas also went on to say that with the way Aniket has acted, he has done full justice to the character.

Rohit Shetty

Another director who will appear in the film is Rohit Shetty. Rohit anchored the reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' earlier this year and again on Shreyas' request (he directed Shreyas in 'Golmaal 3') he agreed to do a cameo in 'Poshter Boyz'. Rohit has had a slew of hit films in the past and awaits the release of 'Singham Returns'. Whether his Midas touch will work for Shreyas is something we will have to wait and watch. "Both Rohit and Farah are close to me and are very successful directors and I love watching their movies which are all out entertainers. When I decided to produce 'Poshter Boyz', being in the same entertainer space, I knew I had to have them in the film," Shreyas said in a statement.

Anu Malik

Do we sense a 'Unchi hai building, lift teri band hai' happening here as well? Well why not? Considering Anu Malik has jumped on the cameo bandwagon for the film, we might expect an Anu style song but will have to wait to know if there really is one in 'Poshter Boyz'. Shreyas recently revealed that Anu will be doing a cameo in the film but whether it will be in a song or in a scene is something we don't know yet.

Sachin-Supriya

The star couple Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar will be seen doing a cameo in Shreyas Talpade's home production 'Poshter Boyz'. While speaking about this development, Shreyas told a daily, "Deepti and I met Sachinji and Supriyaji recently and they inquired about 'Poshter Boyz' and expressed their interest to associate with the film in any way if we required. Deepti and I both were delighted to hear that and we immediately offered them to do special appearances in the film. They also willingly agreed. Their presence in the film is a blessing to our film."
