The ‘Sargi’ fame
Babbal Rai was away from the silver screen for quite some time; however, with his guest appearance in ‘Ardaas Karaan’ recently, he made it back to the 70MM. Soon after that he bagged another movie ‘Ik Sandhu Hunda Si’. In a candid conversation with ETimes, the actor spilled some beans on the movie and his character.
“‘Ik Sandhu Hunda Si’ is an amazing movie, it is a story of characters.
It is different from most of our Punjabi movies, it’s not an out and out comedy, you will not see back to back punches” said Babbal while commenting on the movie.
Further, when we asked about his character as ‘Dimpy Brar’ in the movie, the actor didn’t wish to disclose everything about it, but gave us something to go on with. “I play the character of a guy who has just recently joined the university; he is a fresher. So basically it’s like one of the pendus who visit Chandigarh for studies” he said.
Babbal Rai has done movies wherein if not first, he played the second hero and had ample screen time; thus, when we asked him why he is opting for smaller parts now, he replied, “It is not a small part in ‘Sandhu’, in fact in the beginning, I solely have the 15-20 mins spot.”
He also hinted that he might be the narrator in the movie, but didn’t reveal much about the same completely, leaving us a little puzzled.
Releasing next year on May 8, ‘Ik Sandhu Hunda’ has
Gippy Grewal and
Neha Sharma in the lead, with
Roshan Prince, Babbal Rai and Raghveer Boli in pivotal roles. Directed by Rakesh Mehta, the movie has been bankrolled by Bally Singh.
