Kulraja Randhawa-starrer Needhi Singh is finally in the theatres. Written and directed by Jaivi Dhanda and produced by Inder Bhandaal and Sumeet Singh, the film is based on the real life story of an easy going, bubbly girl, Needhi Singh, who is forced to rebel when she's oppressed by the society. The film is different for a reason it is because the subject needs a change, Punjab needs a change.
1x1 polls
I was looking for a script which has a hard-hitting subject and this film was serious. But that doesn't mean there is no comedy or any light moments in the film. It's a very balanced story but it is still hitting the core issues prevalent in Punjab right now. By core issues, I am not referring to drugs or politics, but the issue revolving around woman. Any woman in Punjab, in whatever situation she is, rich or poor, is sadly still the weaker sex, said Kulraj.
Needhi Singh, presented by Saga music & Golden Fox films, shows how a woman can take revenge if she's oppressed socially. Director Jaivi Dhanda was clear about the subject when he thought about making the film. Today's women are equal to men. Both the sexes are heroes in contemporary society. Punjabi cinema is demanding a change and our film will give a new direction to this region's films. We hope Needhi Singh will become a role model for other filmmakers, said Dhanda.
The film is presented by Saga Music & Golden Fox Films.
