After reports that Punjabi singer Alfaaz was ‘attacked’ in Mohali on Sunday night, the Punjab police clarified that the incident was an
accident. Speaking to us, SP (City) Mohali, Akashdeep Singh Aulakh said, “A verbal spat between a worker,
Vicky and the owner of an eatery where
Alfaaz was dining on Sunday night in Mohali broke out. Alfaaz intervened for the worker, defending him and the fact that he a poor chap and should be paid, and left for the washroom. Meanwhile the worker thought of whisking away a vehicle which belonged to the eatery owner and didn’t switch on its lights for fear of being caught. Alfaaz, who was coming out of the washroom, got inadvertently hit by the vehicle when the worker was trying to speed away with the vehicle in the dark and couldn’t see the singer.” Vicky was soon intercepted by the police and an FIR registered in Sohana police station under sections 279, 337 and 338.
Aulakh added, “We know this account of events based on statements recorded from Alfaaz in the hospital and from others present in the eatery at that time. Alfaaz is fine now, he is out of danger and recovering in hospital.”
