A new dimension

Tamil actor Shaam is all set to turn hero with his next Telugu film. CT gets talking to him...
A new dimension
In the laugh-riot Kick, Tamil star Shaam was the only character who looked serious as he donned the role of a brooding cop.
The character was meant to be portrayed that way, he informs. In the film, the actor loses his prospective wife Ileana to another, when they are just about to get married.
Ravi Teja snatches away Ileana from me as he suddenly regains his lost memory, he says.

For the actor, this action role was a break from his lover boy roles in Tamil films like 12B and Lesa Lesa. As luck would have it, his new avatar has impressed some Tamil directors. After watching Kick, they regretted not having exploited this dimension of mine before, he says with a glint of satisfaction. And, his performance did make an impact. Ill soon sign another Telugu film, he avers.
Has the actor drifted towards Telugu films due to a dearth of offers in Tamil? Not really, because doing roles in varied languages enhances the brand equity of an actor, he reasons. Keeping this view in mind, the young actor dabbled in Kannada films and got successful with Tananam Tanaman.
The actor, who studied in Bangalore, marks the Garden City as his chillout zone. I let my hair down when Im in Bangalore, and I have a lot of friends to chill out with, he discloses. Is he a quiet and calm guy while in Chennai? Of course, I am, he says, Thats because its my workplace. I do my work, hit the gym and return home to relax. After playing a sincere lover boy and cop, the actor will be donning the role of a Casanova who entices seven girls in his debut Hindi film Mujhe Maaf Kaaro. It has a mind-blowing theme and all the characters are well conceived, says the actor.
