Vasanta Balan’s Angadi Theru was adjudged the Best Tamil Feature Film at the Eighth Chennai International Film Festival, which ended on a glorious note on Thursday with the screening of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Biutiful.
Kalavaani was selected as the second best feature film in the category. While Prabhu Solomon was awarded the Best Director award for his Mynaa, Parthepan won the Special Jury Award for his performance in Aayirathil Oruvan.

Speaking on the occasion, Parthiban, who received the award from well-known film maker Aparna Sen, said, “ I wish to thank the jury of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Charu Haasan and Archana for having selected me for this award. I wish to share my award with three sets of people. First, I want to share this award with those who have talent but haven’t got an opportunity to exhibit them, Next, with future filmmakers who are waiting to break records, and finally, with my kids for whom I live.”
The awards were presented by Union Minister for State Social Justice and Empowerment D Napoleon, Aparna Sen, K Bhagyaraj, Balu Mahendra and the members of the jury.
