It seems like director Saji Surendran shares a penchant for including remixes of popular yesteryear tunes with others who have done the same before.
After featuring a remixed version of the 1986 evergreen song Poomuka Vathilkal in his debut venture Ivar Vivahitarayaal and Sholay’s Yeh Dosti in Four Friends, his next flick Husbands in Goa will have the upbeat Pichaka Poonkaavukalku from No.

“This song too will be shot during the husbands’ journey in a train to Goa,” informs the director. While the original peppy number, penned by Shibu Chakravarthy, of the Mohanlal-Mammootty duo’s flick was composed by Ouseppachan and sung by MG Sreekumar, the singer has taken on the task of creating the remixed version. This could mark a burgeoning trend with the remixed version of Lajjavatiey from For the People that has also been planned for a new release. Last year, Prithviraj’s Teja Bhai and Family had rehashed the popular disco number Oru Madhurakinaavim from the 80s hit Kaanamarayathu, Mammootty’s Venicile Vyapari had featured Kannum Kannum from Angadi and Nayika used the 1975 hit Kasthurimannakunalo from Picnic. The opinion is that the curiosity surrounding the new take on evergreen hits also adds to the hype about a film.
