He’s not sure if they did it to garner publicity or if they were genuinely confused about their roles in his film. But whatever the reason, Ravindra, the director of the Prem-starrer I’m Sorry... Mathe Banni Preethsona is livid with two heroines of his film. Over the past week, he has been the subject of discussion in gossip columns when two heroines Karishma Tannah and Sanjjanaa made some allegations against him.
While Mumbai girl Karishma’s grouse was that she wasn’t being portrayed as the lead heroine of the film, which according to her, she is, Sanjjanaa reportedly told a local daily that Ravindra had asked her to indulge in certain gimmicks to boost the curiosity of the film.
I’m very upset with Karishma and Sanjjanaa. I won’t apologise to either of them as I’m not guilty of any wrong-doing, claims Ravindra. And contrary to the claims made by Karishma at a press conference in the city recently, Ravindra says he has always been in touch with her about the promotions of the film. She left for Argentina to participate in Zor Ka Jatka and wouldn’t take my calls. When I texted her about the press conference, she ignored that too. Later she explained that since she was abroad, my number would show as unknown on her phone, says Ravindra, The team went ahead with the film’s publicity and press meet.
Another aspect that upset Karishma was when Ravindra told the press that while she is the heroine of the film, there is another heroine who’s equally important to the story. “So I told the media that it’s up to the audience to decide who the actual heroine of the film is. And Karishma raised a hue and cry about it. I stand by my original statement,” states Ravindra. He adds that Karishma and Sanjjanaa can’t see eye-to-eye. “Each of these girls feels that she is the lead in the film. I can’t pander to their egos,” he tells us.
Sanjjanaa, he says, was supportive of him even through the Karishma controversy. “But she, under conditions of anonymity, told an English daily that I had asked some team members to indulge in gimmicks, which is not the case. But I found out that it was Sanjjanaa who told them these things. I have told her to never call me again,” says Ravindra. He adds, “It’s okay if my cast doesn’t promote the movie. I hadn’t revealed Prem’s face until 10 weeks after I had announced the movie. That’s how confident I am about my directorial abilities,” he says.
