It’s for a reason that author Chetan Bhagat flew down for the premiere of Madhura Sridhar’s “It’s My Love Story”. Apart from him being Sridhar’s favorite author, so much so that his book “The Three Mistakes Of My Life” made it to the film’s poster, they both have something in common. Both are IIT alumni. For Sridhar, quitting a plush job with a technology company to make movies was not easy.
Weathering all roadblocks he did what he loved most, making films his way, sans big stars and the resultant baggage.
“It’s My Love Story” is Sridhar’s second outing as a director. “I have always taken the business of movie making seriously,” says Sridhar, who believes in making good films that are commercially viable. Madhura Audio label and film magazine “Cinestar” are his other business ventures in the movie industry.
Given that Tollywood isn’t game for experimentation, Sridhar says he felt the need to produce and direct his films. “You need to have complete freedom to make a movie the way you want it,” reasons the self-taught filmmaker, whose first film “Sneha Geetham” which featured an all-new star cast, was liked both by critics and audiences alike. For “It’s My Love Story” too, Sridhar has once again cast two new faces. After a long-drawn hunt, he zeroed in on Arvind Krishna and Nikitha Narayan, reiterating his commitment to bringing in new talent to the industry.
While the movie is slated for release on November 11, Sridhar hosted the premiere, two days prior to the release. With a certain glint in his eyes he says, “It’s suicidal in Tollywood to premier the movie two days ahead of the release. The verdict will be out and the outcome could prove costly.” However, Sridhar is unperturbed. This only shows his confidence in “It’s My Love Story”.
