Jiiva, who has earned the reputation of being a versatile artiste, seems to have every reason to be delighted. Sources in the industry claim that the producers of the actors next film, Singam Puli, are really pleased with his attitude and the effort he is putting in to make the project a success.
Jiiva, who has never hesitated to experiment and has tried out a variety of characters in films like E, Pori, Katradhu Tamizh and Ram, is now playing a dual role in this film for the first time in his career.
Says a source close to the actor, Jiiva plays two roles in the film. One is that of a fish vendor and the other is that of a lawyer called Ashok. While the latter is a comic character, the former is of a serious nature.
The source adds, What is worth noticing about Jiivas effort in this project is that usually, when actors choose to play dual roles in a film, they tend to play only one character a day. However, Jiiva isnt insisting on this work pattern. He is willing to play both characters on the same day. In fact, recently, he shot for the scenes of the serious character in the morning while in the evening, he played the role of the lawyer.
The movie, which is being directed by debutant Sai Ramani, also stars Divya Spandana, whose performance in the Gautham Menon film, Vaaranam Aayiram was lauded, apart from Ponvannan, Pandu Meera Krishnan and Santhanam.
The team, which began working on the project in June this year, plans to can shots in Malaysia, Singapore and certain locations in the European Union that have never before been presented on screen in Tamil cinema.
