For actor Kavya Madhavan, her next release, Venicile Vyapari, is special in more ways than one
For actor Kavya Madhavan, her next release, Venicile Vyapari, is special in more ways than one
She is a born star who can handle any role with ease. Mollywood's own Kavya Madhavan will next be seen opposite superstar Mammootty in the movie Venicile Vyapariand she says the movie is special to her in more ways than one. She gives the reasons.
"This is the first time I am playing Mammukka's heroine.
And I am working with director Shafi, who happens to be my best friend in the industry, after a gap of seven years," says Kavya.
Kavya acted as a child star in Azhakiya Ravananwhich had Mammootty in the lead. The movie was produced by James Albert. Venicile Vyapariis also produced by James. "So, it was a kind of a reunion for all of us on the sets," she says. Her role in the movie is that of a bold girl, Ammu, who Pavithran (played by Mammootty) loves. It is a commercial movie with all the right mix for a family entertainer.
Unlike other actors from Kerala who migrate to Tollywood, Kollywood and even Sandalwood, Kavya stands loyal to Mollywood. Is this a conscious decision? "Yes, I prefer Mollywood. But at the same time I nurture a dream to act in other languages." Then what is stopping her? "For me, the comfort level is really important. When I work in Malayalam movies I am surrounded by people who I know and I enjoy every bit of it," she says.
Kavya says she did a few ads in Tamil but felt quite uncomfortable. "I didn't know the language and with so many unfamiliar faces I felt suffocated," she reveals. But she says if she tells this to her friend and fellow actor Bhavana, who has already carved a niche for herself in Tollywood and Kollywood, she would laugh at her. "I wish I too could feel comfortable working in other film industries," says Kavya as she gears up for her next movie, Vellaripravinte Changathi. The movie, scheduled for a Christmas release, sees the return of the magical pair, Dileep and Kavya. The shooting is progressing at Pollachi.
