Malayalam films dominate Indian panorama
Mollywood has scored more brownies in the next installation of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). This year, the Indian Panorama section will see not one or two, but seven entries from Mollywood.
Santhosh Sivan's Urumi will be the inaugural film for the Indian Panorama section. The other movies that will be screened include Traffic, Bombay March 12, Chappa Kurishu, Melvilasam, Karmayogi and Adaminte Makan Abu.
This is the third consecutive year director V K Prakash's movies have been selected for the Indian Panorama. This year, his Karmayogi has been selected for the section. "It's a sign of encouragement to make good movies," shares the director.
Shaanu of Chappa Kurishu fame is visibly surprised with the news. "It would be a lie if I said that I was expecting it. It was really a big surprise. Our intention was not to enter a competition when we made the film though we did send it for the competition category. It's a very fortunate thing to have entered the Indian Panorama section."
