The highly-anticipated character mashup 'The King and The Commissioner' is set to begin filming its second schedule in Delhi from next week. The Shaji Kailas-directed movie brings together two of the firebrand characters in Mollywood cinema – Mammootty’s Joseph Alex IAS and
Suresh Gopi’s Bharat Chandran IPS from the 1995 and 1994 blockbusters.
The plot of the movie is centered on a threat to the internal security leading to a high-profile investigation. Joseph Alex, who is now the head of the National Investigation Agency, and Bharat Chandran, who is the Delhi Police Commissioner, are pitted to work together to solve the case.
During the course of the investigation, both the firebrands clash due to difference of opinion, says director Shaji Kailas, hinting that the dialogues of the film would be explosive.
And it’s not surprising as Renji Panicker, who had scripted the famous lines in both the blockbusters, has also written for this mash up.
The shooting of the movie was halted in August after which Mammootty went on to shoot for Shafi’s 'Venicile Vyapaari.'
However, the entire first half of the movie has been shot, points out Suresh Gopi, revealing that his character makes its first appearance only 10 minutes before the intermission.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Suresh Gopi comes face-to-face with Joseph Alex. The actor had made a special appearance in 'The King,' not as Bharat Chandran but as a Narcotics Bureau expert who helps out with the interrogation.
Clarifying this peculiarity, Shaji Kailas says, “It’s the character Bharat Chandran played by Suresh Gopi who is being brought on screen and the guest appearance has no connection with this movie.”
