Thiru gets second time lucky

Director Thiru spills the beans on his next project to TOI.
Thiru gets second time lucky
A director needs to have more than just a good script and technical skills if he is to deliver a hit.
He needs to have a thorough understanding of the audience’s minds and more importantly, the determination to make his film in a manner he believes will be most appealing to the audience.
Director Thiru, who earlier made Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai (TVP) with Vishal, seems to have all of this.
1x1 polls
So, it comes as no surprise that Vikram Krishna, who produced the director’s debut film, has signed him up for a film in which, for the first time, his brother Vishal is not playing the lead. The film will go on the floors from December 20.
Says Vikram Krishna, “Thiru has a lot of potential. The confidence he exuded during the making of TVP was amazing. In fact, he knew what he wanted and would not rest until it came out that way. If he knew he was right, he would give a damn about those opposing his view, irrespective of who they were.”
On why his brother isn’t part of the project, Vikram reveals, “When Thiru narrated this script, we found it to be perfect. However, it had the scope of a small budget project, which would not have fit Vishal’s image. So, we decided that Thiru would make this bilingual with Nakul and Manchu Manoj playing the lead in Tamil and Varun Sandesh and Manoj playing the lead in Telugu.”
The director, who is already excited about the project, seems to have got the right team to start off with. The cameraman of Mynaa, Sukumar, will be the cinematographer for this film, while the music will be by Thaman. More importantly, he seems to have realised that attention spans of audiences are coming down. Says Thiru, “This movie will be a thriller that will have a running time of just two hours. Every human being, no matter how good they are, will have a certain percentage of badness in them. What if this badness comes to the fore? That is the premise of the film.”

Nakul, who is excited about the film, says, “Thiru is a person who is always on the go. He has a grip on himself and I can’t tell you how excited I’m about this role. Though I can’t reveal much about the role I’m playing, I’ll tell you this — it is definitely different from the roles that I’ve played.”
And that’s not all. The director also discloses that he will also be directing Vishal soon. “Yes, it is true I will be working with Vishal after this film. But it will happen only after Vishal completes his present commitments.”
