Father of Bhojpuri actor Bhavana Tiwari, who lost her left arm in an accident in Mumbai, alleges that the train accident was a conspiracy to kill his daughter who was struggling in tinseltownThis is one of the most shocking incidents involving an aspiring Bollywood actor. Bhojpuri actor Bhavana Tiwari, who has been trying her luck in Hindi movies, met with an accident on August 29 at Mumbai’s Goregaon railway station that resulted in her losing her left arm! Initially, she was admitted to Borivali’s Bhagwati Hospital and will subsequently be shifted to King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai where she will
undergo surgeries.
Bhavana, who came to Mumbai from Kanpur some four years ago, did her schooling from Etah before going to Delhi to work in some devotional Hindi albums. Subsequently, she moved on to Mumbai. Says PM Karyakarte, senior inspector at GRP Borivali station, “We recorded Bhavana’s statement two days after she regained consciousness following the mishap. She said she had lost her grip while boarding the train. That had resulted in the accident. We are keeping a track on her recovery.” However, the twist in Bhavana’s tragic tale comes from the allegations made by her father, Suresh Chander Tiwari. Alleges Suresh, who was a priest in Naubasta, “There has been an attempt to murder. She seemed disturbed days before the incident. I tried to ascertain the reason but she was too silent and didn’t want to share her problems with anybody. I couldn’t speak to her on the day of accident but I’m sure there is a conspiracy at work.”
Strangely enough, Suresh hasn’t yet lodged an FIR on his hunch about this being a case of attempt to murder. “We could not lodge any such complaint yet because of monetary issues. Bhavana has to undergo two surgeries and at this point, we can’t bear the cost of hiring lawyers and court proceedings. We’ll lodge an FIR soon after the surgeries are over. I don’t exactly know who could be behind this heinous act. Since the day she was admitted to the hospital, her mother and younger brother have been trying to make her speak about the whole incident. But, she is in a state of shock and faints every now and then. I don’t even know how we will continue with her treatment. There is no dearth of empathy but nobody is offering us financial help.”
When asked whether they will take Bhavana back to Kanpur post her recovery or leave her to pursue her dreams in Mumbai, he says, “What will we do going back to Kanpur? She has lived with her dreams and surely she will want to stay back in Mumbai. Par bina hath ki ladki ki kismat bhi kaise hogi?”
Before her accident, Bhavana was finalized for the third lead in Sujit Puri’s Bhojpuri movie, “Rangeela Raja Babu”. Sujit too believes in the conspiracy theory. “If it was just an accident, why would her broken mobile be recovered from 4A, New Mhada Lokhandwala complex in the wee hours of the morning on the day of her accident? The mobile was recovered lying on the stairs. This indicates that somebody had snatched it from her during a brawl and thrown it. Since that morning, she had gone missing till the night the incident occurred. One of her friends even told me that she was last seen at a politician’s house in Lokhandwala at around 6.30 pm on September 29. The accident took place at the Goregoan railway station around 11 pm when she was about to board a train to Nalasopara (where she stays). I have a hunch that somebody must have pushed her down the track before train the halted at platform No. 1.”
Elaborating further, Sujit says that Bhavana had recently bought a house in a chawl for `2,50,000. “She had paid `1 lakh and the remaining amount was supposed to be paid soon. However, that never happened because of this incident. What I find intriguing is that there are also scratch marks on her neck and other body parts. It only suggests that something else had happened before she fell on the tracks. I have met Bhavana and she is in a state of shock. We have tried to find further details from her but all that is in vain. I had cast her in the film 12 days ago. Recently, she did an item number in a movie down South for which she was paid `25,000. The rest of the money is still pending. A few days ago, she signed on another agreement for a Bhojpuri movie,” Sujit adds.
As for financial support, Sujit says that there has hardly been any initiative from any quarter. “On September 3, I had received a call from Ravi Kishan. He is in Singapore now. He asked me about Bhavana and whether she requires any financial help. However,
I am yet to hear anything further from him. A Bhojpuri magazine had offered to help. I had appealed for assistance through my social networking site. But, nobody even bothered to comment,” Sujit says, adding, “I really don’t know why people consider Bhojpuri actors to be second grade citizens. Bhavana’s life is tragic. She wanted to do Bhojpuri movies. Once she recovers from this trauma, I will make sure that she gets to pursue her dreams. I will provide all financial help for her treatment. I have deferred the shoot of my movie from October 2011 to April 2012. We’ll make some changes in the script so that she can do the role.
Anup Jalota will produce the movie.”
I had a meeting with Sujit regarding producing the movie that has Bhavana in the cast. But nothing has been finalized as yet.
