My Lord Movie Synopsis: A couple declared dead on paper after a medical crisis discover they've been stripped of more than just their identities.

My Lord Movie Review: Plot-driven films aren't a problem. Plot-driven films where none of the characters linger in your head afterwards, that's a problem. Muthusirpi (Sasikumar) is a Kovilpatti matchbox factory worker whose wife Suseela's (Chaithra Achar) medical emergency sends them into the arms of a loan shark and a system that chews them up without blinking. Identities stolen, records erased, both declared dead on paper. Then a central minister (Asha Sarath) turns up needing a rare kidney, and wouldn't you know it, Muthu's the only match in the country. A journalist (Guru Somasundaram) takes up the case. Courts follow.

The satirical instincts work more often than not. A few dialogues genuinely sting, and Sean Roldan's score does smart, understated work. Raju Murugan gets real mileage out of showing how casually power treats people as disposable, and the premise stays engaging for the most part.

But nobody in this film feels like a person. They feel like chess pieces. A cop working for the minister poses as a Tirupur businessman to get close to Muthu, a role practically begging for some grey. The film doesn't care. The minister's two kids each deliver near-identical bedside speeches of devotion, back to back, like the script hit copy-paste on the emotion. Gags that start sharp get milked a beat too long. Everything moves, but nothing breathes.

Muthu's stubbornness is the other sticking point. Offered life-changing money multiple times, he waves it away like accepting help is beneath him. The film reads this as dignity. After watching the system gut this man and his wife from every angle, it reads more like the director insisting the poor are just inherently nobler. Organ harvesting as a backdrop has been done enough that it needed a fresher spin, and while Raju Murugan keeps it from dominating, the worn edges still poke through.

Sasikumar is easy to root for in the way he usually is: understated, sincere, never overselling. Chaithra Achar, in her Tamil debut, brings quiet weight to Suseela and holds her own comfortably. Guru Somasundaram and Asha Sarath are reliable. Nirav Shah's camerawork keeps things polished.

My Lord lands enough of its jabs and keeps you curious. It just needed people as interesting as the mess they're stuck in.
