10 Years of 'Subramaniapuram': Anurag Kashyap praises Sasikumar’s classic

Filmmaker M Sasikumar made his dream debut with the period-drama ‘Subramaniapuram’, which released in 2008 and opened to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film gained the attention of the national audience and went on to become one of biggest hits that year.
Ever since its release, Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has been raving about the Sasikumar-starrer for what it is.In fact, in an interview sometime back, Kashyap said it was ‘Subramaniapuram’ that inspired him to make ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. On its 10th anniversary, Kashyap had nice things to say about ‘Subramaniapuram’.
In a series of tweets, Anurag praised Sasikumar for giving us a raw-gritty film like ‘Subramaniapuram’. He wrote, “@SasikumarDir it’s been ten years since you made the classic that inspired me and now you are an Actor .. gimme more.”

Sharing a poster of ‘Subramaniapuram’ he wrote, “It’s ten years of the amazing film that inspired me to GOW.”

Replying to Anurag Kashyap, Sasikumar wrote, “10 Years of Subramaniapuram wishes from my favorite director n friend @anuragkashyap72 thank u sir, soon il start my direction.”

Interestingly, Anurag Kashyap will be making his Tamil debut as a psychotic villain in the upcoming thriller ‘Imaikka Nodigal’.
