There has been a disagreement between actor
Vemal and producers Singaravelan and Gopi in the past few days over money defraud. Reportedly, film producer Gopi had filed a complaint against the actor alleging that the actor defrauded him of Rs 5 crore. Following this, producer Singaravelan also reportedly claimed that actor Vemal defrauded him of Rs 1.5 crore.
Speaking at a press conference, actor Vemal on April 24, broke the silence on the allegations made against him.
The actor reportedly stated that he did not receive any salary for acting in the film ‘Mannar Vagaiyara’ and he had not made any deals with producer Singaravelan on profit sharing. Vemal reportedly stated that in exchange to his name being listed as producer, he will play the lead role in the movie. He added that half the film shooting was completed and then the project was shelved as the producer announced bankruptcy. Vemal reportedly stated that the financers were only interested in giving a loan on his name, so he had to agree to the condition to continue the project. He reportedly stated that producer Singaravelan only handled the business of the film ‘Mannar Vagaiyara’ and got the money from Gopi.
Vemal reportedly stated that after the release of the film producer Singaravelan stated that the movie was a loss and as a producer Vemal had to return Rs 5 crore. The actor claimed that the producer was handling the business and once the film faced loss, he diverted the expense towards him. The actor said that he had spent over Rs 55 lakhs in the past few years and he was mentally depressed since the issue.
