Anjaan actor Asif Basra dies by suicide

Anjaan actor Asif Basra has passed away by suicide. The actor was found hanging at a private complex in Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh. He was 53. The Police is investigating the incident.

Asif Basra had played a henchman in Suriya’s Anjaan. Though the role was a short one, the actor had created an impact with his performance. The action-thriller was directed by N Lingusamy and had Suriya, Vidyut Jammwal and Samantha playing the lead characters. The film had an ensemble cast which included Asif Basra, Manoj Bajpayee, Dalip Tahil, Murali Sharma and Brahmanandam.

The actor and theatre artiste is known for characters in Jab We Met, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, The Tashkent Files, Black Friday, Kai Po Che and Hichki to name a few. The news of his demise has come as a major shock to the film fraternity and fans.

Resul Pookutty had shared on his social media page, “I can’t believe he is gone! RIP #asifbasra gone to soon! Great actor and great enthusiast!”

Bejoy Nambiar wrote, “This is just heartbreaking !”
