Arjun Das seems to be having an exciting year ahead. With three films that are ready to release — Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming release,
Kaithi
, Prabu Solomon’s
Kumki 2
and
Andhaghaaram
— Arjun is happy about the way things are looking up for him. Despite coming from a non-filmi background, Arjun says that he has enjoyed every bit of running around.
He begins, “I was a banker based in Dubai. I have always been passionate about films and it wasn’t an easy task to convince my parents. Eventually, they agreed and asked me to move to Chennai to pursue my dreams. I did short-term courses with Koothu-p-pattarai and Evam. Later, I did a portfolio shoot and went from one office to another. Since nothing was coming my way, I worked in a radio station as an RJ. Through my work stint, I got to meet a lot of people from the industry. It was one of those days when I got a call for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film. I auditioned for it and got through.”
Later, he got an opportunity to work with Prabu Solomon in Kumki 2. “There is a wish list for aspiring actors, right? Prabu sir and Lokesh sir were all part of it. In Kumki 2, I play a role with shades of grey. I have completed shooting for the film. I also got to do Andhaghaaram, a supernatural thriller directed by newcomer V Vignarajan. I play the lead in this film. We have completed shooting and the post-production work is going on,” says the actor.
Though it took four years for him to get a break in the industry, Arjun says that the learning was great. “I didn’t know how the industry works. So, meeting them and giving auditions made my experience richer. In fact, I enjoyed the process and have nothing to complain about. In fact, I am excited about the way forward. I want to make the right choices and work with good directors,” he signs off.
