We had reported that
Arulnithi was teaming up with debutant director
Innasi Pandiyan for an investigation thriller. We have now learnt that the actor plays a cop in the film, titled Diary.
Innasi, who has worked with Ajay Gnanamuthu and Arivazhagan earlier, says, “Arulnithi lost nearly 20 kilos to get into the role of a cop. He wanted to have a fit physique and dedicated solid hours to his workout sessions.
The film will be an action-packed one. We began shooting in November last year and wrapped up before the lockdown. We were supposed to begin the post-production right after, but it got delayed. We have now begun work on the film again.”
Pavithra, a doctor from Singapore, plays the female lead, while Shiva Shah Ra, Aadukalam Kishore and Jayaprakash have integral roles, too. “We shot the film in Chennai, Coimbatore, Coonoor and Ooty. The story is based on a few true incidents. I wouldn’t want to simply classify it as a thriller as there are more elements to the story,” says the director, who is also the dialogue writer for Ajay’s Cobra, starring Vikram.
