Bharathiraja hospitalized in Chennai; Veteran director's family confirms, fans pray for recovery
Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja, over 80, is hospitalized in Chennai for treatment following emotional trauma after his son's demise. His family confirms he's undergoing routine check-ups and preventive care, with doctors stating his condition is stable. The acclaimed director, known for his realistic films, has been focusing on family, leading to health concerns.
Senior filmmaker Bharathiraja, who is aged over 80 years, has been under treatment at a private hospital in the city. He has been going through an emotional trauma for the last nine months after the demise of his son Manoj Bharathiraja, who died of cardiac arrest last March. He stays with his daughter in Malaysia for treatment, and he now has returned to Chennai and was admitted to hospital. The doctors say that his condition is stable now.

Bharathiraja's cinematic legacy

Bharathiraja started his directorial career with '16 Vayathinile', which remains a landmark film in Tamil Cinema. He then stamped his class on Tamil cinema with evergreen hits such as 'Sigappu Rojakkal', 'Kizhakku Seemaiyile', 'Mudhal Mariyadhai', and 'Vedham Pudhithu'. He launched several actors and received wide acclaim for his realistic screenings of films, often in real locations and creating a whole new touch of realism in Tamil Cinema. Apart from direction, Bharathiraja had acted in several films.

Bharathiraja deeply affected by Manoj’s death

After the death of his son Manoj, Bharathiraja has concentrated on his family and stayed away from the film industry. This has caused a lot of psychological and health issues to him.
While in Malaysia, he suffered from repeated psychological strains. He returned to Chennai and he was later admitted to the hospital as a result of health issues. He has been under a close watch for the last three days by the medical personnel.

Family confirms routine monitoring

Confirming his health status, Bharathiraja’s family said that he was admitted for check-up and preventive care and was doing well, as per Filmibeat. The actor has received goodwill from fans, followers, and the film fraternity in Tamil. His being hospitalized has left his fans in the film industry shaken.
