Director Shankar deeply saddened by the demise of Thamira

Director Thamira passed away this morning due to COVID-19 infection. Director Shankar is deeply saddened by the demise of Thamira and has mourned the demise of the director. Shankar wrote, "I am deeply saddened to know about Director Thamira's sudden demise. I convey my deepest condolences to his family and friends. May his soul Rest in Peace."

Shankar is the one who introduced Thamira as a director and produced his debut directorial 'Rettaisuzhi', which was released in 2010.The film featured Thamira's mentors and veteran filmmakers K Balachander and Bharathiraja. Even though the film received positive reviews, it failed to do good numbers at the box office. Earlier, Bharathiraja recalled his experience working for 'Rettaisuzhi' and shared his heartfelt condolences.

Director Thamira was diagnosed with a corona infection a few weeks ago, and he was getting treated in a private hospital in Chennai. But the aged director couldn't recover from the pandemic and had his last breath today morning. Several celebrities have been recalling their memories with Thamira and sharing their condolences. Thamira had finalized the script for his third directorial, and he was about to join hands with a leading production house.
