The South Indian Cine, Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union inaugurated a dubbing studio dedicated to the late playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam today. The studio, which has been named
SPB Studio, was inaugurated by the head of the dubbing union, actor
Radha Ravi.
After SPB's demise, actor Radha Ravi had announced that a dubbing studio would come up in the name of singer.
After the inauguration, members of the union claimed that they were proud of the fact that the dubbing studio was named after the legendary singer SPB.
It is to be noted that singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was an accomplished dubbing artiste. SPB was the primary voice of actor Kamal Haasan in the Telugu dubbed versions of his films, be it Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Aalavandhan, Vettaiyadu Vilayadu, Avvai Shanmughi or even Dasavatharam. SPB has dubbed for over 100 films and had even won the best dubbing artiste award for Telugu film Annamayya in which he lent his voice to Suman, who essayed the role of Lord Venkateshwara in the film.
