I am not married, and I am single now: Anjali

Anjali will start shooting for Karthik Subbaraj���s Iraivi this month onwards. But she���s been in the news, with rumours saying that she���s not been honouring her shooting schedules, and that she���s been missing. Some even said that it���s because she���s put on weight, that doing continuity scenes with her were becoming a problem for the directors��� And then, came the news that she is being considered for Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi���s 150th film, which is a comedy.But throughout all of this, Anjali has maintained a silence, neither refuting, nor clearing the air on anything that was being said about her. And so, it is after a long time that the lady sat down for a chat with us, speaking about all the things that she���s kept mum about over the past year...
Rumours say that you have not completed shooting for your current films, Appa Takkar and Mapla Singam...
Well, I have been shooting for the past six months without a break. I am very much here and I have been completing my shoots as per the schedules.
But you went ���missing��� while shooting for Mapla Singam���
How will I go missing? These are just baseless rumours. No producer or director has ever complained about me, or my work and if they are happy, there���s no tension for me. I am currently shooting for my Telugu film and I am travelling for it, that���s all.
But it is true that in the past you disappeared from the scene all of a sudden. Is that what is fuelling such rumours now?
Had that been the case, the producers wouldn���t even have considered me. I have been approached for couple of other films, too, this year ��� and this is apart from the ones I am currently doing. So, according to me, everything is going well for me at the moment. The industry insiders know me, and they know what the truth is. I don���t know who has been spreading such rumours about me. I didn���t take a complete break from the industry even at that time. I was shooting for Telugu films during the phase when I wasn���t seen in Tamil films.
Are your personal problems sorted now? You had some family issues in the past, which led to you taking this break���
I am not interested in talking about my past, now. All I know is that I went through a tough phase, but now those problems have been settled. In fact, some good has come out of it, for, it was when I was facing that situation, that I realized that I was a strong person from within. I was able to handle it all, even sort some of the issues, and still managed a re-entry into the film industry.
But you seem to have moved from Chennai���
I have shifted my home to Hyderabad. I have been shuttling between Chennai and Hyderabad for my shoots.
It is also being said that you are married and have been flying abroad at regular intervals���
��� And there are rumours that I have a kid, too (laughs). I posed with my niece once for a photo and people started saying she was my kid. That���s how much people assume things. I am not married, and I am single now.
And what about you having put on weight, and those issues with continuity shots in your films?
Since November, I have lost close to nine kilos, and Subbaraj has asked me to shed even more weight. Recently, I lost around three kilos. I will be seen as a slim and trim girl in Iraivi. I have been working on my weight and have not delayed or made any director wait because of my weight issues.
What about the roles that are coming your way post your return?
See, after watching the whole film for over three hours, the audience shouldn���t still be left wondering who the heroine was ��� doing such roles is a waste. I have always preferred to take up performance-oriented roles. It can be either glamorous, or a de-glam one. So, I am not particularly looking for glamorous roles, plus, filmmakers also don���t offer me those sizzling characters.
Have you been approached for Chiranjeevi 150th film?
I cannot say anything about it at the moment.
