I like real heroes better: A Balakrishnan
Director A Balakrishnan, whose last venture Kamaraj won him much acclaim, is all set to release his next film, Mudhalvar Mahathma.
Talking about his film, he says, While I was working on Kamaraj, I came across several books on Gandhiji. I was fascinated with his ideologies He thought that we can enjoy real freedom only if we are economically independent.

Apart from talking about the relationship between India and Pakistan, he also spoke at length about freeing the country from social evils. He always believed in the power of youngsters. So, I thought it was time to remind the audience about his principles.
He quickly adds, But Mudhalvar Mahathma doesnt preach. Its an entertaining story about how Gandhiji returns to India and how one of his disciples from his ashram becomes the chief minister. Bollywood actor Anupam Kher plays the chief minister in the film. Im glad he agreed to be part of my project, says the director.
Balakrishnans films are all based on political and social reformers. Thats because I like real heroes better, he smiles, I came to Chennai from Mumbai with the dream of becoming a director. I ventured out on my own and made a teleserial on Kamarajar, titled The Kingmaker. After 30 episodes, I decided to make the script into a film.
But his next production will be a commercial entertainer. It will be about a Tamil guy who settles in Mumbai. And, the film will be directed by my associate.
Mudhalvar Mahathma will hit the screens after Endhirans release. And Im planning to release the film in Hindi as well. I will be registering the title soon, he signs off.
