Is ‘Vaadivaasal’ making a comeback? Here's what we know about Suriya–Vetrimaaran’s rumoured plan
Rumours about Suriya and Vetrimaaran reviving their film 'Vaadivaasal' are circulating. Reports suggested the actor had agreed to allocate dates for the project. However, sources close to Vetrimaaran have denied these claims. They state there have been no recent discussions about restarting 'Vaadivaasal'. The film is considered shelved. Vetrimaaran is currently focused on his project 'Arasan'.
Speculation about the revival of 'Vaadivaasal,' the much-anticipated project that was supposed to bring together Suriya and director Vetrimaaran, has been circulating widely on social media. Recent reports claimed that discussions had taken place between the actor and the director and that Suriya had agreed to allocate around 10 days of call sheets every month for the film. It was reported that the long-gestating project could be greenlit soon, which certainly sent shivers up the spines of fans who hadn’t heard news of the project since the original film.

Team denies reports about fresh discussions

However, sources close to Vetrimaaran have now clarified that the information doing the rounds is inaccurate. According to a report by Filmy Bowl Tamil, there have been no recent discussions between Suriya and Vetrimaaran regarding the restart of 'Vaadivaasal.' The clarification stated that the claim about Suriya committing to monthly call sheets is completely a rumour. It is also said that restarting the project at this stage would involve several practical challenges, and the film is almost considered shelved at the moment.

Vetrimaaran is currently focused on ‘Arasan

At present, Vetrimaaran is said to be concentrating entirely on his ongoing project 'Arasan,' which stars Silambarasan in the lead role. The film also features Vijay Sethupathi in an important role. The project had recently taken a brief break in shooting, but filming is expected to resume soon with key scenes involving the lead actors.
Vetrimaaran, who has made his mark as a filmmaker with hits such as 'Aadukalam,' 'Visaranai,' 'Vada Chennai,' and 'Virtuthalai,' is now said to be focusing entirely on this project.

‘Vaadivaasal’ was once planned as a major collaboration

Earlier, reports indicated that 'Vaadivaasal' would be a debut partnership between filmmaker Vetrimaran and actor Suriya. Based on the popular novel by C. S. Chellappa, this bull-taming film centred on Jallikattu was a sure shot after the reveal and test screenings. But there hasn’t been any movement on this in the last two years, and with no news on this front, it is safe to say the movie is not going to be made.
