Kanakaraj in Bapu's shoes

Actor Kanakaraj, who resembles Mahatma Gandhi, didn't know that his looks would work to his advantage one day.
The man, who started by writing pieces on historical figures, is now rubbing shoulders with celebrities like Sivakumar and Anupam Kher in films. He is currently busy with Mudhalvar Mahathma, a film directed by Balakrishnan.
'I started out by writing scripts for documentaries.Meanwhile, I was approached to do a serial, titled Oviyam. It went on to become a hit and soon, I was part of Radhika's Chithi. I also worked in several other serials including Chinna Paappa, Periya Paappa. And then, luck favoured me and I got an offer to play Rajaji's disciple in a serial. That's where Balakrishnan saw me and felt that I could play Gandhiji convincingly. He cast me in both his Kamaraj and Mudhalvar Mahathma,' says an elated Kanakaraj.
