‘Karuppu’: Suriya-Trisha starrer and RJ Balaji’s film bags massive deal ahead of theatrical release - Find out

Tamil star Suriya will be next seen in the RJ Balaji directorial ‘Karuppu’, which features Trisha Krishnan in the lead. The movie has high anticipation among the fans regarding the project, with the team involved at the forefront. The movie, before its theatrical release, appears to have struck a staggering deal of more than one hundred crore.As per a report by Lets Cinema, the makers have sold music rights as well as the satellite and OTT rights for both South and Hindi markets. With all these deals, the film has earned more than Rs 110 crore even before its release. The film is still not done with its business. The theatrical rights in the South regions and overseas are yet to be finalized. These deals are expected to add more money to the total. There are also speculations that the film is made with a budget of around Rs 130 crore. If that is true, the film has already recovered a big part of its cost. However, these numbers are only based on reports for now and an official statement is yet to be made.Speaking about the film, ‘Karuppu’ tells the story of a lawyer. His life changes when he is possessed by a deity. After that, he starts fighting against the injustice faced by people. The cast also includes Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu. RJ Balaji will also be seen in a cameo role.The film will release in theatres on May 14, 2026. Earlier, it was planned for Diwali 2025, but it got delayed due to post-production work.The young music sensation Sai Abhyankkar is adding tunes to the film. Recently, the team released the second song ‘Naanga Naalu Peru’.
