Director Kathir, who is making a comeback with Kodai Vidumurai, which has Shaam in the lead, says that his film will be a youthful entertainer on the incidents that happen in the life of a college student. "I came to cinema after being inspired by the poetic films of
Bharathiraja (
16 Vayathiniley and
Kizhakke Pogum Rayil) and
Mahendran (
Nenjathai Killathey and
Mullum Malarum.
In every film of mine, I have tried to recreate the poetic character their narratives had. Though I haven't been able to achieve their level of greatness, I will never try attempting to outdo their efforts," says the filmmaker.
He adds, I think my space in Tamil cinema, as a filmmaker who makes breezy films, is still vacant as the current trend is rural or violent subjects. My film
Kodai Vidumurai will be stylish and colourful just like my previous ones. And, true to his style, we hear the director is planning to shoot the songs in exotic locales Egypt, China and Australia.
