Shwetha Menons controversial Malayalam film Kayam is going to be dubbed into Tamil as Tharam. Kayam was a failure but it created a controversy as Shwetha filed a complaint that her stills from the film were used by its producer to promote a sex stimulant and steroid! Though the Kerala Police arrested the managing director of the firm recently in connection with the case, hes now out on bail.
The producers of Kayam, perhaps realizing its commercial potential in Tamil, have dubbed it as Tharam and will soon release it in Kollywood. Remember, Shweta Menon has a sultry siren image in Tamil following her last Tamil release Naan Avan Illai 2.
Sources state that the film will be promoted as a soft porn film in Tamil to reach its target audiences. The actress feels that after winning a major battle in the courts, she can do little to stop the film getting dubbed in Tamil.
Anil, the director of the film, justifies the move, saying, Kayam is a clean film with a very pertinent theme. The character that Shwetha essays in the film is one of the best she has done so far. The stills that have been used in the posters have been selected from the flash cuts for commercial purposes and there is nothing wrong in that.
Meanwhile, Shwetha Menons yet-to-be-released Malayalam remake of Rathi Nirvedam is hot in the TN dubbing market. The trailer of the film is creating waves on the Internet. The film is a remake of the 1978 Malayalam film by the same name. It was written by Padmarajan and directed by Bharathan.
Shwetha is doing the role made famous by yesteryear heroine Jayabharathi who created waves by playing it sensuously.
