Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi���s debut film as a director 'Vanakkam Chennai' under their family banner Red Giant Movies has come under criticism alleging that the film is a blatant copy of a yesteryear flick. The debut director and wife of Udhayanidhi Stalin has rubbished these claims saying 'Vanakkam Chennai' is her own script.
Reports say her movie resembles the 1955 movie 'Missamma', which had the likes of Savithri and Gemini Ganesan in lead roles.

Denying the rumours Kiruthiga said "I don���t concede to these facts. They are just rumors. I have been a student of literature and during college I used to pen down many short stories. Vanakam Chennai is one among them. There should be no doubt about its authenticity."
Vanakkam Chennai features Shiva and Priya Anand as its leading pair with Santhanam doing meaty role.
