Veteran actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan unveiled the name of his political party ‘
Makkal Needhi Maiam’ (Centre for People’s Justice) to a packed audience in Madurai on February 21. The occasion saw the presence of Delhi Chief Minister
Arvind Kejriwal among other dignitaries. Several noted politicians and actors congratulated Kamal for his political journey. In fact, Haasan’s debut political speech created waves across the country.Now, after a week after the launch of his party, the actor has issued a press release thanking close to one lakh people for their participation in making the occasion a grand success.
In the statement released on February 23, Haasan said, “We express our gratitude to all the participants who exhibited exemplary energy and discipline.
At the outset, we dedicate the success of the launch to the people of Madurai. We also thanks the office-bearers, secretaries and members of Narpani Iyakkam."
He also extended heartfelt gratitude to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, MLA Somnath Bharti and Farmers Association President PR Pandian.
If reports are anything to go by, over 2 lakh people have already registered for ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ within two days of its launch. Although an official confirmation is awaited.
On the work front, Kamal Haasan awaits the release of his long-delayed ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ that is currently in its post-production stage. The veteran superstar will be teaming up with Shankar for ‘Indian 2’, which is expected to take off in the second half of 2018.
