Mandira felt she was unfit for south films: Shanmugam Muthusamy
Mandira Bedi, who is back in Kollywood after more than a decade, with Adangathey, plays a special cop in this film directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy. The director says that the actress initially refused to be a part of this political film.
He says, “Actually, my plan was to rope in Vijayashanti for the role, but reaching her was very difficult. She was actively into politics because of which she couldn’t come on board.

That’s when I saw a picture of Mandira, which she had posted on her social media account. She looked fit, right after working out in a gym. But when we reached out to her, she expressed disinterest. Somehow, Mandira had a feeling that she was unfit for south films. But she was convinced once she read the bound script that I had sent her.”
Shanmugam adds that the actress agreed to dub for her character once she saw the trailer. “She showed interest in lending her own voice to the character. She also made a compromise on the remuneration part,” he reveals.
