P Balachandran's glad for not receiving National Award

The preview and website launch of P Balachandran���s Ivan Megharoopan held the other day paved way for some hearty laughs offscreen.
Director Mohan, who was on the panel of juries of the National Awards last year, was present at the event. While he complimented director P Balachandran for making a class film, he also said that the movie should not have been rejected by the jury.
���I hadn���t watched the film during its screening,��� he said. ���I���m sorry that a film as good as this did not win an award.��� But Balachandran retorted, saying that he is glad the film didn���t get the National Award. Why? ���Because then people wouldn���t flock to the theatres to see my film, thinking it���s just another award film,��� he said. ���I���m happier thinking of the awards that Ivan Megharoopan never got,��� he said amidst peals of laughter from the audience.
