Parvathy Thiruvothu reveals why she stood with Nayanthara amid rift with Dhanush

Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu, who starred alongside Dhanush in the 2013 film Maryan, recently voiced her support for actress Nayanthara. This came after Nayanthara published an open letter accusing Dhanush of allegedly plagiarizing her documentary, 'Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale'. Following social media backlash for her stance, Parvathy has now clarified her reasons for standing with Nayanthara.

In an interview with Manorama News, Parvathy explained her immediate decision to support Nayanthara’s open letter. She expressed admiration for the actress, calling her a “self-made star.” Parvathy stated that her response was not impulsive but rather driven by an instinctive urge after reading Nayanthara’s heartfelt Instagram post. She described Nayanthara as a “Lady Superstar” and a courageous individual, emphasizing that someone as bold as Nayanthara would not pen such a letter without a strong purpose. “We all know her,” the Thangalaan actress added.


Parvathy highlighted that Nayanthara’s detailed three-page letter, which shared personal experiences, resonated deeply with her. She explained that the letter’s emotional weight compelled her to support Nayanthara, as it reflected shared struggles. Parvathy also acknowledged that some might choose not to support Nayanthara due to personal reasons.



Drawing from her own experiences of facing a lack of support during difficult times, Parvathy emphasized the importance of solidarity, particularly for women in the industry. “I will always stand for those people, especially if they are women,” she said.

Nayanthara’s open letter accused Dhanush of being selfish, controlling, and envious of self-made individuals in the film industry. Parvathy reposted the letter on her Instagram story with a ‘salute’ emoji, signaling her unwavering support. Her action sparked a wave of endorsements from other actors, including Shruti Haasan, Nazriya Nazim, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Anupama Parameswaran, and Aishwarya Rajesh, who showed their support by liking the post.
