Poonam takes the glam route

Poonam Bajwa has gone for a total image makeover. The Punjabi kudi, it seems, has had enough of her ���������chubby, cute, girl-next-door image, wearing half-saris and acting coy��������� in Kollywood.
Remember, she played a shy introvert girl in her recent release Thambikottai? Last month, the Pune-based Poonam did a personal photo shoot in which she went for an ultra-glamorous look, which is getting record page views on Internet sites.Talking to CT from Pune, Poonam Bajwa said, ���������I like to update my look. I feel that as an actress, you have to reinvent yourself constantly if you want to stay ahead of the pack.���������
Poonam is frank that her ���������seedhi-saadi look��������� has made her predictable and got her trapped in a girlnext-door image. Says Poonam, ���������I didn���������t want to be confined to having a particular image, as it can get quite stifling. Today, one of the cardinal rules for a longer lifespan as an actress is to look pretty and at the same time, be glamorous. I did the photo shoot just for the kick of it. But now, I���������m flooded with offers from all south Indian languages.���������
Poonam���������s first foray into Malayalam, Mohanlal���������s multi-starrer China Town, in which she was paired opposite Jayaram, seems to have proved lucky for her. ���������China Town was a fun movie and went on to become a superhit. The role which I played in the film ��������� a casino owner who falls for Jayaram ��������� gave me scope to try out a new look. I���������m doing Shikar in Kannada and Malayalam opposite Mammootty where I���������ve two looks,��������� she reveals.
The actress is now doing Ethiri En 3 with Srikanth in Tamil. Says Poonam, ���������I play an investigative television reporter in the film. I wear modern clothes and in the promo stills, look chic and glamorous . I feel the film will give me a new image. I���������d love to experiment more with my looks.���������
Poonam is clear that she has no Bollywood plans at the moment as she wants to concentrate on the south. Concludes the actress, who is brimming with confidence in her new avatar as a glam girl, ���������South is where all the action is. My immediate priorities are Tamil films, in which one can strike a balance as a performer and a glam girl, a winning combination at the boxoffice .���������
