Actor-turned-filmmaker Prithviraj, who has donned greasepaint for films in different languages, made his debut in Kollywood in 2005, with KV Anand’s Kana Kandaen. A few of his movies were dubbed and remade into Tamil before and after the release of Kana Kandaen, which had him in the role of an antagonist. He later essayed notable roles in Parijatham, Satham Podathey, Kannamoochi Yenada, Abhiyum Naanum and Kaavya Thalaivan among others. But his film Mozhi, directed by Radha Mohan, remains as his popular work in Kollywood. With Jyotika, Prakash Raj and Swarnamalya, too, playing pivotal roles in it, the rom-com which released in 2007, had opened to rave reviews, thanks to the performances of lead artistes, music by Vidyasagar and its screenplay. It’s been almost six years since Prithvi has done a Tamil movie. Though he has been busy with his projects in Mollywood, he was part of the Bollywood flick, Naam Shabana, three years ago. Currently busy with the pre-production works of Empuraan, the sequel to his directorial debut, Lucifer, which starred Mohanlal in the lead, he also has an interesting lineup of projects, including Aadujeevitham, Kaaliyan and Variyamkunnan.
His last film, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which hit the screens earlier this year, received rave reviews from Tamil critics and movie buffs alike. A movie buff asked him on Twitter if he would be interested in being part of a rom-com in Tamil, something on the lines of Mozhi. To his surprise, Prithvi replied saying he is very interested in doing a rom-com in Tamil again. He tweeted, “Of course I would love to make a RomCom in Tamil again!”
