The audio launch of Paramapadham Vilayattu, which stars
Trisha in the lead, was held this morning. The action thriller marks the 60th film of Trisha in her career, and is directed by Thirugnanam. The film is slated to release on February 28.
Interestingly, Trisha did not come for the event, and this has now turned into a controversy. And producer T Siva, who is part of the ad hoc committee that is managing the affairs of the
Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), did not take kindly to this.
Speaking at the event, Siva said, "When actresses are part of a big-hero film, it is possible to promote the film on the face value of the hero and not worry about the heroine not coming for the promotions. Whoever it is they should have the thought of standing by the side of the producer who has placed trust and paid them a big salary and made a film with them. If that doesn't happen, it is very unfortunate, because there is no one else who can promote the film as they are all new or unrecognised faces. It provides a life to the producer, director and the technicians."
Without naming her, he remarked that it was unfortunate that Trisha hadn't come to promote the film. He also added that perhaps circumstances were not favourable. However, he cautioned the actress that action will be taken against her if she fails to not turn up for promotions in the future. "I'm warning on behalf of the TFPC that if she continues to not attend the promotional events of this film, she will be forced to give part of her salary to the film's producer. It will be a lesson to others as well. We cannot sit idle during such situations," Siva threatened, and went on to place a request to the actress to be part of the promotions.
Trisha is currently part of several films that are in production, including Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, Mohanlal's Ram, directed by Jeethu Joseph, and Engaeyum Eppothum fame Saravanan's Raangi. The actress is yet to comment on this issue and present her version of this story.
